Suresh Soni (Founder Trustee)

Born on 23rd November, 1944 in Sinor, Baroda.
Completed M.Sc., First class first with Distinction, With Mathematics, from the M. S. University of Baroda, in 1966, breaking record of M.Sc.

Because of: 1. Hereditary culture of his father, 2. Novels - short stories of Munshi Premchandji & Shri R. V. Desai, he decided to work for "Unto the last", without enough clarity. He tried, but did not get. He became lecturer in the same Baroda University, with firm decision to leave this job as soon as he gets work of his dream.

Once Suresh Soni went Ansuya Leprosy Hospital, Vadodara and met Leprosy patients, and asked them how he can help them. One of the patients told him, "We receive all the needy things from this hospital, we do not need anything, but there are two leprosy colonies in Vadodara, you can go there and help them."

He left this lucrative, comfortable job of high status to live with Leprosy afflicted Persons & their children.

Leprosy Work

Started voluntarily in 1970.
Learned through Leprosy Patients, giving medicines, injections, dressing ulcers, etc. He helped Leprosy beggars of two big slums of Baroda in various ways in personal capacity; approached the Baroda Municipal Corporation, helped financially from own pocket, encouraged the beggars to give up begging and to spin on Ambar Charkha, and helped their children to study.

He established a unique centre for Leprosy beggars. He was a Founder, life Trustee, Secretary and the Main Organizer of the "Shram Mandir Trust" since its inception. He left the Shram Mandir Trust in June 1988, due to difference of opinion with other trustees.

Registered the "Sahyog KushthaYagna Trust" on 6th June 1988. He had no money, no land, nothing except the goodwill and the impression in people's mind about his noble work. He received 31 acres of flat land with ready tube wells as a gift from Shri Ramubhai Patel, Sarvoday Ashram Madhi, Vijapur, without any condition, in the Sabarkantha district, a totally new place and unknown to everybody in this new area.
